About

Tennessee Taking Action was launched in 2023 by a group of dedicated grassroots advocates in response to Governor Bill Lee’s attempts to pass Red Flag Laws in Tennessee. We recognized the potential challenges and pitfalls these laws could introduce, and so, we mobilized to safeguard our Second Amendment rights.

Tennessee Taking Action evolved swiftly from a passionate group of individuals into a formally recognized not-for-profit corporation within Tennessee, committed to preserving and promoting the rights of gun owners. Since our inception, we have consistently upheld our not-for-profit status and remained steadfast in our mission.

Our primary focus is to restore citizen control over government and to defend the original intent of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution, with a particular emphasis on the 2nd and 10th Amendments. In addition, we strongly uphold the rights outlined in Article I, Section 26 of the Tennessee Constitution.

In line with our mission, Tennessee Taking Action has also achieved not-for-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service as a Section 501(c)(4) corporation, a status we continue to maintain. We are a non-partisan organization, and we open our doors to anyone who shares our commitment to protecting our constitutional rights.

While Tennessee Taking Action operates as a not-for-profit, we are not a charity or a charitable organization as defined by any provision of state or federal law, including the Tennessee Charitable Solicitations Act. Our mission is not focused on charitable activities but on the defense of constitutional rights.

At its core, Tennessee Taking Action is a grassroots organization. We resonate with the words of Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” We invite you to be part of this group of committed citizens, working together to uphold our rights in Tennessee.
